Job Description: This is a multi-billion-dollar Design-Build program by the NYC Dept. of Design and Construction to construct four new buildings across four boroughs. The Design Management Lead – Construction Admin must possess excellent communication and team-building skills and the ability to work proactively, independently, collaboratively, and with full transparency as required by the DDC.This is specifically for the Bronx facility.
The Design Management Lead – Construction Administration for the Bronx facility will be responsible for confirming the delivery of the building design by the selected Design-Build team during construction. This individual will manage and instruct the selected teams in collaboration with internal and external design and will report weekly progress to the NYC DDC. Before the site management office is open, all work will take place in the Program Management office in midtown Manhattan.
Responsibilities:
Confirm that design and systems are designed and constructed in compliance with requirements and goals.
Support the delivery of the work packages to the required scope and schedule.
Conduct inspection readiness pre-walks for the DOB and the FDNY.
Coordinate and schedule subject matter expert site visits as needed.
Confirm that the design documentation covers the scope of work required by the client.
Confirm that all activities being managed are appropriately documented.
Review and coordinate responses to submittals and RFIs according to the project requirements.
Review and confirm shop drawings are in conformance with project requirements.
Review and confirm that material samples and mock-ups are in conformance with project requirements.
Review change-order requests.
Facilitate resolution of construction issues with the design-builder.
Conduct regular inspections of the work.
Issue clear field observations with photo documentation, location references, and drawings-specifications with verified evidence.
Required:
Minimum of 15+ years of relevant experience in project design, planning, and construction administration.
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction or a relevant field of study.
Proven experience with coordination of project teams, delivering results within deadlines.
Professional Architectural license is desired but not required.
Previous experience with high-rise construction and major public projects
Previous experience with Design-Build desired.
Strong leadership and project management skills; ability to work independently or part of a team.
Previous experience working with NYC agencies.
Strong verbal and written skills in a client-facing capacity.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction.
